Red Shores, PlayWise and the helpline
A night at the races at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino is meant to stay an evening out and nothing more. If it starts to feel like more, the lines below are open to anyone on the island, beginning with the free PEI Gambling Support Line, answered at every hour.

Who to call on the island
- The PEI Gambling Support Line, 1-855-255-4255, costs nothing to call, keeps every conversation confidential and is answered at any hour on every day, with no limit on how long a call lasts. Family and friends affected by someone's gambling can phone it as well, not only the person who places bets.
- Break in Play keeps a person off both Red Shores gaming floors for a term the person picks. That term is counted in days, 30, 60 or 90, or in months, with 6, 12, 24 and 36 on offer. Enrolment runs about 20 minutes, either in person at Red Shores or by phone with the PlayWise Advisors at 902-620-4267. A Break in Play term, once confirmed, stays in force and cannot be cancelled.
- Each Red Shores site, in Charlottetown and in Summerside, keeps its own PlayWise information centre, and both can be reached at 902-620-4267.

machines are ever due
Help
How chance works here
Red Shores' PlayWise pages put it plainly: outcomes are completely random. No machine is ever due, every spin carries the same chance as the one before, and no ritual changes a result. At the track, the payout on a race is worked out from a common pool of bets of one type under federal regulations, not from any pattern in earlier races.
One general practice helps: settle the amount and the stop time before the first race, and keep to both.

provincial site
Help
Online gambling and the province
For online gambling, the provincially regulated site in Prince Edward Island is alc.ca, which Atlantic Lottery runs for the PEI Lotteries Commission. Players must be 19, and that age line also governs buying, playing or redeeming any Atlantic Lottery product. Provincial law also bars the sale of a lottery or pari-mutuel ticket to a person under 19. No licensing system exists in PEI for private online casinos. Offshore online operators, the province's responsible gambling strategy states, hold no authority to operate lottery schemes on the island.

Ad links on the Charlottetown Casino home page
On Charlottetown Casino, the home page is the one spot where paid links sit, and the Form Desk tags each of them Ad. They send readers to a privately operated online casino, and the Form Desk receives a commission from it; the operator behind those links may be replaced. Nobody pays for the guide's links to Red Shores, to the regulators or to the help services.
The advertised site is not alc.ca. Neither Red Shores nor Atlantic Lottery nor the provincial government is connected to it, and it holds no authority from Prince Edward Island. Enrolling in Break in Play does not cover it.

Reader questions · short answers
Questions
Q1Can a family member call the PEI Gambling Support Line?
Yes, the line at 1-855-255-4255 takes calls from anyone affected by someone's gambling, not only from the person who gambles. Calls are free and confidential, and there is no limit on their length.
Q2Can a Break in Play be ended before its term runs out?
A confirmed break cannot be cancelled. Whatever length is picked at enrolment, from 30 days up to 36 months, runs to its end, so the choice deserves careful thought with the PlayWise Advisors at 902-620-4267.
Q3Which online gambling site does the province regulate?
The provincially regulated site is alc.ca, which Atlantic Lottery runs for the PEI Lotteries Commission, and it is 19+. The province does not license private online casinos.
